Are you undergoing cancer treatment, or are you a caregiver for someone faced with a cancer diagnosis? Or, have you completed treatment and are now struggling with its effects?

If so, you are invited to attend a free 6-week workshop, “Cancer: Thriving & Surviving,” designed to help people affected by cancer manage their health and maintain an active and fulfilling life. Sessions will be held at Shore Cancer Center, located at the corner of 100 Medical Center Way and Shore Road in Somers Point.

The program runs every Thursday from October 5 through November 9 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Class size is limited. To register, call 609-653-3923. All participants receive a complimentary book titled “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions.”

Whether newly diagnosed, in active treatment, or living beyond cancer, this interactive program helps survivors cope with the concerns, thoughts, and health conditions that accompany a cancer diagnosis. Caregivers are encouraged to attend.

The workshop will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain, isolation, poor sleep and living with uncertainty.
  • Setting priorities and goals.
  • Proper nutrition.
  • Communicating effectively with family, friends and health professionals.
  • Making decisions about treatment and complementary therapies.
  • Appropriate exercise for regaining and maintaining flexibility and endurance.
