Somers Point — Community First, a local volunteer organization, is inviting the local community members to join in a festive holiday celebration and tree lighting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.

Shore Medical Center is providing eight trees that will be lit and add a holiday touch on its grounds along Bay Avenue. Local families and businesses that would like to “adopt” and add to the holiday spirit by decorating their tree are invited to do so.

The trees will be in places along Bay Avenue no later than Saturday, Dec. 8, and can be decorated up until 4 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Businesses or local families that would like to reserve one of the trees to decorate should contact Michael Bray at michael@passionvines.com or Thomas Lacovara tlacfire@gmail.com.

Trees will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each tree will be accompanied by a sign designating the business or family that decorated the tree.

“The city does a great job with its annual tree lighting event so this year we wanted to continue that momentum along Bay Avenue all season,” said David Hughes, founding member of Somers Point — Community First. “This will be a wonderful celebration of family, of friendship and of community.”

Joining Somers Point — Community First in the festivities will be musicians from the South Jersey Jazz Society who will perform holiday favorites.

Hot drinks and light refreshments will be served.
