United Methodist Communities, a multi-site senior care organization in New Jersey, including a center in Ocean City, announced that it has been certified as a Great Place to Work® by independent analysts at Great Place to Work Institute.

The certification process considered anonymous and confidential employee surveys from across United Methodist Communities’ 11 locations. United Methodist Communities at The Shores in Ocean City serves and employs local residents.

Great Place to Work® certification provides undeniable support that the associates at United Methodist Communities love what they do, the organization said.

Great Place to Work®, an independent research and consulting firm, evaluated more than 60 elements of team members’ experiences on the job. These included employee pride in the organization’s community impact, belief that their work makes a difference, and feeling their work has special meaning.

Rankings are based on employees’ experiences, no matter who they are or what they do. Activated Insights, an independent firm, conducted the survey and analyzed the results.

United Methodist Communities President and CEO Lawrence Carlson affirmed, “My job as a leader is to provide opportunities for all our associates to have a meaningful impact in the lives of our clients, residents and families. Our journey to person-directed living has been instrumental in providing an empowering environment in which to work. The extent to which our associates are engaged directly impacts the quality of life of those we serve. It’s a win-win.”

Attaining the Great Place to Work® certification for 2018-19 has affirmed associates’ great pride (95%), great atmosphere (92%) and sense of challenge (91%) they have experienced at United Methodist Communities. Great Place to Work® certification also provides proof to potentially the best new associates that UMC has been vetted as a great place to further their careers.

“We expect that this certification will lead to much higher associate retention, greater resident satisfaction and higher regard throughout New Jersey for UMC’s brand,” said David Glenn, vice president of human resources for United Methodist Communities. “I am so proud to work with so many passionate and committed people with a heart for serving seniors and look forward to other like-minded individuals joining us at all levels of our organization.”
