Keeping Your Heart Healthy: A Community Education Event: Penn Cardiology and Shore Medical Center experts are joining together to offer a free heart health education event at Greate Bay Country Club, featuring a keynote presentation by Penn Cardiologist Dr. Millee Singh, DO, FACC, and a continental breakfast.

2018 Cardio Challenge: Penn Cardiology and Shore Medical Center are teaming up with Greate Bay Racquet and Fitness in Somers Point to offer Shore’s second annual Heart Month Cardio Challenge, open to the entire community, including those who do not have a Greate Bay membership. Fitness trainers will oversee the challenge, offering options for beginner, intermediate and advanced participants. Prizes will be awarded. The Shore Medical Center Speakers Bureau is available to promote healthcare awareness and quality of life for all members of the community. Cancer Screenings – The NJ Cancer Education and Early Detection Program provides free cancer screenings for breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer for people who are uninsured or underinsured (high deductibles or out of pocket expenses). CAREGIVER SUPPORT
The Center for Family Caregivers
Shore Medical Center is pleased to introduce the Center for Family Caregivers, a free, public resource dedicated to the support and well-being of the family caregiver. *NEW* Alzheimer’s Association’s Caregiver Support Group
Designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings. They help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. The groups encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia. The support group at Shore Medical Center is held the 2nd Tuesday of every month. RSVP by calling 609-653-3969.

Balance Disorder Information Session
Do you experience dizziness, vertigo or other difficulties in balancing? Did you know many balance disorders can be corrected through vestibular rehabilitation therapy? Shore’s Balance Center, located at the Center for Outpatient Rehabilitation, is offering free bimonthly information sessions where you’ll complete a balance assessment, learn how balance disorders can lead to falls and other serious health problems, and how vestibular rehabilitation therapy can help you become steadier on your feet.

SURGICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery education programs provide comprehensive educational opportunities to learn more about what will be involved in your care at Shore. Meet with nurses, physical therapists, social workers and discharge planners. Sessions are designed to educate you about each phase of your surgery and recovery. Sessions are held in the 2nd floor surgical conference room in the Surgical Tower.

Shore’s Tobacco Prevention & Treatment Program offers counseling with trained tobacco dependence treatment specialists. OUTPATIENT NUTRITION COUNSELING
Shore offers outpatient nutrition counseling led by registered dietitian nutritionists who translate the science of nutrition into real-world solutions for healthy living.
