Ceremony is the first in a summer long series of Tributes to be held every Friday this summer
Shore Medical Center presented its first of a summer-long series of Patriotic Tributes to women and men in uniform on Friday, May 26. Ceremonies are being held at the flag poles in the park located in front of the hospital along Bay Avenue, starting at 6pm. Shore is inviting the community to join together in saluting those who have served and who are currently serving in the armed forces.
The May 26 ceremony kicked off Memorial Day weekend with a tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Hanna Banner of Marmora performed the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America. US Marine Corps veteran Marco Polo Smigliani played taps as the American flag was lowered to half staff in honor of those who died in the line of duty.
Beginning June 2, ceremonies will celebrate those who have served both during conflict and peacetime. Members of the community are invited to submit their loved ones’ names to be read aloud at the ceremonies, held every Friday throughout the summer at 6pm.
