The Atlantic County Utilities Authority is inviting the public to learn more about electric vehicles as an alternative to traditional gasoline vehicles by attending the ACUA’s sixth annual Drive Electric Celebration 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, via the Zoom online meeting platform.
Curious residents, car enthusiasts, business owners, fleet managers and all members of the public are encouraged to attend. From passenger cars to trucks, this year’s event will cover a wide range of EVs and the latest information on the issues that impact their adoption and use.
Transportation is the number one contributor to greenhouse gas pollution in New Jersey. Electric vehicles provide an opportunity to significantly reduce these emissions. EVs make up a growing percentage of vehicle sales in the U.S. and worldwide; with over one million electric vehicles on the road, EV’s are now available in a wide variety of makes and models, from compact passenger vehicles to heavy duty trucks.
Speakers from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Stockton University, Pepco Holdings, Inc., ChargEVC and Climate Change Mitigation Technologies will discuss the latest incentives, research and benefits for purchasing electric vehicles or installing charging stations.
“The ACUA benefits from having electric and hybrid vehicles as part of our green fleet,” ACUA President Rick Dovey said. “The range of vehicles and the infrastructure supporting EVs is constantly evolving and this event helps us to connect the public with the latest information. By bringing together state leaders and experts and real-world users together at one event, businesses, residents and municipalities can learn what they need to know about going electric.”
There’s no cost to attend, but registration is required. Go to acua.com/driveelectric to register.
The event is part of a countrywide celebration of electric vehicles known as “National Drive Electric Week” hosted by Plug in America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association.
