The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office is adding two K-9 dogs to its ranks, and they want the public to help name them.

The Friends of the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office Foundation has started a GoFundMe that allows those who make a $5 donation — or more — to weigh in on the naming of the two dogs.

Each dog — one male and one female — have three contenders the public can choose.

Officer April Kelso’s partner is a 13-month-old female Belgian Malinois born in Canada.

She is described as extremely social with a love of fetch. The dog will be trained in narcotics detection and tracking scents.

Her potential names are Zara, Mila or Buttercup, with Zara currently far ahead of the other two.

Officer Matthew Richardson’s partner is a “very energetic” 20-month-old male Belgian malinois also born in Canada.

He loves to run and will be trained in explosives detection and weapon recovery.

His potential names are Cairo, Bacon and Thor, with Cairo recently taking the top spot from Thor.

Donations of $100 or more, not only get a vote, but the donor will receive a personalized “Thank You” letter and T-shirt featuring their favorite K-9.

All donations help fund the Atlantic County Sheriff’s K-9 Department.
