The 2023 USRowing annual convention and Indoor Rowing Championships will be held Feb. 3-5 at the Atlantic City Convention Center. It is the first time both events will be held simultaneously at the same venue.
The championship event will offer traditional and new formats for indoor rowing enthusiasts across the country. In addition to 2,000 meter and marathon/half-marathon racing, the 2023 Indoors will include shorter distance/duration dashes, max wattage tests, and erg relays.
“After two years of virtual events, we’re thrilled to gather our community for a memorable weekend at a fantastic location,” US Rowing Director of Learning and Development Brett Gorman said in a press release. “Whether learning something new to take back to their clubs or testing one’s mettle by competing at Indoors, we’re excited to deliver a compelling experience for everyone.”
Retired state Sen. William L. Gormley was instrumental in the development and strategy behind this newly combined event, working closely with USRowing and Atlantic City community leaders and sponsors.
“I would like to thank Gov. (Phil) Murphy and Sen. (Vince) Polistina for the enthusiastic support of the Rowing Championship in Atlantic City,” Gormley said in the release. “Our lead sponsor, AC DEVCO and Chris Paladino, have been invaluable in their leadership and support.”
The convention will offer attendees educational sessions in three tracks: athlete development, club management and hands-on learning seminars targeting all areas of the rowing community.
The program offers more than 190 events in various age groups from under 15 to masters’ categories. Competitors can compete in a triathlon with erg, bike erg and ski erg, 500-meter sprints and more.
