Greate Bay Country Club – one of the East Coast’s most historic private country clubs and golf courses – is thrilled to announce that it is now under new ownership.
Led by Frank Ruocco and an intimate group of partners, the new ownership team will bring an elevated hospitality experience to the club, according to a news release.
“Thanks to Mark Benevento’s leadership for the last 18 years, Greate Bay has flourished as a vibrant private club,” Ruocco said in the release. “Maintaining such a historic course is no small accomplishment, and we thank Mark and his partners for the fun and excitement they have provided our members. My partners and I are committed to introducing a new level of hospitality to Greate Bay through future reinvestment in the club, its amenities and team members.”
With more than 30 years of successful partnership, Ruocco and his leadership team each bring a unique skill set to Greate Bay. Most recently, Ruocco may be credited with the opening of Ocean Casino Resort, the former Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.
Since its inception in 1923 as Ocean City Country Club, Greate Bay has served as one of the most sought-after golf courses in the country.
The original course was designed by the world’s first professional golfer and three-time British Open champion, Willie Park Jr., and then redesigned in 1972 by Golf Digest’s “Best Modern Day Golf Course Architect,” Tom Fazio.
Played throughout history by some of the game’s most notable enthusiasts – including Frank Sinatra, Arnold Palmer, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, among others – Greate Bay presents everything from championship golf to private dining, fitness and special events, while just minutes from the coastline of Ocean City.
Located at 901 Mays Landing Road in Somers Point, Greate Bay is a private golf course and country club offering a variety of membership types and services.
