Democrat Levi Fox beat out Republican candidate Joseph McCarrie to win an at-large seat on Somers Point City Council.
Fox garnered 2,207 votes to McCarrie’s 2,125 votes for a three-year term on the governing body. The seat is currently held by Democrat Carl D’Adamo, who chose not to seek re-election.
In Ward 1, Republican candidate Stacy L. Ferreri had 1,175 votes, beating out Democratic opponent Dan Myers, who received 1,108. Councilman Kirk Gerety, a Republican, chose not to seek re-election in Ward 1.
And in Ward 2, Democrat Karen Bruno secured a Council seat with 1,162 votes to Republican opponent James Osler’s 921. The Ward 2 seat opened up when Republican Councilman James Toto chose to run for election to the Atlantic County freeholder board.
These are unofficial vote totals from the Atlantic County Board of Elections. Ballots postmarked on Nov. 3 have until 8 p.m. on Nov. 10 to be received by the county clerk. The Clerk’s Office has until Nov. 23 to certify the results and send them to the state.
