For consistently delivering outstanding patient-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s mission, vision and values, Shore in Somers Point named Health Unit Coordinator Carole José of its Advanced Spine and Orthopedic Institute (ASOI) the medical center’s June 2018 Employee of the Month.
José began her career at Shore in 2002 as a home health aide with its former Shore Care home health organization. During that time, she became a certified lab technician, and later trained to be a health unit coordinator.
Stacy Ross, nurse manager of ASOI, says José always treats patients, families and coworkers with respect, kindness and compassion, setting a tone for the entire department.
“I have never heard Carole say ‘no’ to anyone who needed help. She is a true asset to Shore and specifically to our ASOI unit. We are all so excited to see her receive this well-deserved honor,” Ross said.
When asked how she felt about working at Shore Medical Center, José said, “It’s a home away from home. Shore provides me with the perfect opportunity to do what I do best, help take care of people.”
A resident of Somers Point, José is the 13th of 16 children, and has three children and three grandchildren. She is happy to say her mother just turned 100 this past year. Outside of work, José enjoys watching television and world politics, sewing and sleep.
