Broadley, Elizabeth (nee Onley), “Betty”, 91, of Marmora, NJ passed away on August 13, 2017. Born in West Chester, PA to William L. and Emma Elizabeth Onley on July 20, 1926, the family moved to Marmora in about 1938 and ran a large poultry farm. Thanks to the ingenuity of Betty’s parents, the property became the current Pine Hill Mobile Court, which is still owned and operated by the Onley, Edling, Foglio and Broadley families.

Betty was graduated from Ocean City High School in 1944 and was the proud Salutatorian of her class.

She was employed by the accounting firm of Henry Roescher and Arthur Ford, II.

After WWII, a young Marine named Gamaliel Broadley found Betty at The Chatterbox, they were married on October 6, 1946, and the rest is history.

Betty worked side by side with Gam in the plumbing and HVAC business for many years. She also volunteered at the Helmbold School teaching Life Skills, The Garden Project at Upper Township Primary School, Bible School, Sunday School, and 4-H Groups. Betty was a member of the Acorn Garden Club.

Her baking skill was unsurpassed, and “Betty Broadley Brownies” are still famous!

Betty was the beloved wife of the late Gamaliel Broadley. Her greatest joy was her children, Doris Ann Broadley, Brian G. Broadley, (Caren),  Priscilla Beth Broadley, (Glenn Darby) and Nancy Gail Broadley. Her beloved grandchildren are: Bruce R. Sharp, Jr.(Grainne Murray Sharp), Taylor and Paige Broadley, Robert (Traci)Driscoll, Amanda  Mattern(Andrew)  and Ryan Driscoll. Betty’s great grandchildren are Bruce R. Sharp, Ill, Lana and Kelani Sharp, Caitlyn Seeger, Jackson Mattern, Ryland and Rhys Driscoll, and Findley George Broadley Driscoll. Betty is also survived by her sister, Doris Foglio, and her brother, William A. Onley. She was predeceased by her sister, Anne Edling. Betty has a large contingent of nieces and nephews on both sides of her family that will sorely miss their Aunt Betty.

Friends and relatives are invited to Betty’s Visitation at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, on Thursday afternoon from 5 to 7 and Friday morning from 9 to 10:30. There will be a service celebrating Betty’s Life at 10:30.  Interment will follow immediately at Seaside Cemetery.
