SOMERS POINT RESIDENT AND COMMUNITY LEADER DAVID HUGHES ESTABLISHES VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION “SOMERS POINT- COMMUNITY FIRST”

David Hughes, a longtime Somers Point resident and community leader, announced today the launch of “Somers Point – Community First”, a community-based volunteer organization that promotes Somers Point as a great place to live, work, visit and entertain and inspires ongoing enhancement of Somers Point and preservation of its character and charm.

“We formed Somers Point – Community First with one thing in mind, and that is to actively participate in making the Somers Point community prosper. All members of the organization are volunteering their time with the same goal in mind. We are here to work, to help, and to make a difference,” said David Hughes.  “As someone who lives and works in Somers Point, with family roots here for nearly half a century, the success of the town is very personal for my family.”

Somers Point – Community First will serve as a voice of the Somers Point community as well as assist in various projects that will promote the betterment of the city. Somers Point – Community First assists in offering organizations and businesses advice, expertise, community project partnerships, and more, but does not provide financial support. The Somers Point – Community First organization is comprised of individuals with expertise in community activism, economics, health care, education, entertainment, traditional and social media, insurance, management, marketing, entrepreneurship and more. Each member lives or work in Somers Point. Current members include:

David Hughes – Chief Financial Officer, Shore Medical Center; Creator and Host of “Views from the Shore” on SNJ Today, Channel 4 News; Board Member of Brayces Smile for a Lifetime Foundation; Board Member, Co-Chairman and Finance Committee Member of St Joseph’s Regional School, Board of Director Stockton University Foundation as well as serving on a variety of public company Boards. In addition to previously serving as a Board of Director for Trump Entertainment he also formally served as a Board Member of the Somers Point Business Association; Chair of the Marketing Committee for the Somers Point Economic Development Advisory Council and AC Chamber of Commerce.

Tricia Hughes – lifelong resident of Somers Point whose father was a Emergency Center Physician at Shore Medical Center until his passing

Nicholas Regine – President of the South Jersey Jazz Society

Michael Bray – Michael is the founder at Passion Vines Wine & Spirit Company in Somers Point and Egg Harbor Township. Michael serves on numerous business, government, non-profit, and community boards. In 2014-2015, he served as president of the Somers Point Business Association and Chairman of the Somers Point Economic Development Advisory Commission. He is actively involved with Shore Health Enterprises, Inc. (Board of Directors—Vice Chair), Rotary Club of Somers Point, Multiple Sclerosis Leadership Class, and John R. Elliott HERO Society.

Kathy Ciboldi – Life-long resident of Somers Point

Thomas Lacovara, P.A. 3-year resident of Somers Point, formerly of Linwood. License public adjuster, insurance expert, past member of the Linwood Planning Board, Economic Development Committee, and Advisory Committee.

Brian Cahill – Marketing Director for Shore Medical Center and Shore Physicians Group, Adjunct Professor, Marketing, Stockton University, Co-Producer and Director for “Views from the Shore” on SNJ Today, Channel 4 News.
