City Council Holds Reorganization Meeting

Mayor Jack Glasser and newly elected City Council members will be sworn in, along with appointees during the reorganization meeting.

City Council meets Friday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. for its annual reorganization meeting, where newly elected members will be sworn in and council will make appointments.

Some of the business on the agenda is as follows:

  • Newly re-elected Mayor John L. Glasser Jr. will be sworn in by City Clerk Lucy Samuelsen
  • Newly re-elected First Ward Councilman Sean T. McGuigan will be sworn in by Samuelsen
  • Newly elected Second Ward Councilman Michael Owen will be sworn in by former state Sen. William Gormley
  • City Council will select a Council president
  • President Pro-Tempore will be chosen
  • Council Committee Assignments
  • Newly elected Harbor Master, Fire Officers and Emergency Management Officers sworn in by city clerk

There will also be proclamations:

  • Appointing Historic Preservation Commission members
  • Appointing Planning Board members
  • Appointing Environmental Commission members

Also on the agenda will be numerous appointments, including:

  • City Attorney Appointment
  • Appointment of Fire Officers
  • Appointment of Office of Emergency Management & Harbor Master
  • Zoning Board Appointments
  • Planning Board Appointment of Council Representative
  • Recreation Commission Appointments

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 1 West New Jersey Ave.
