For consistently delivering outstanding person-centered service and embodying Shore Medical Center’s mission, vision and values, Sara Garces-Cano, RN, of its 5 Hayes unit, was named the medical center’s May Employee of the Month.
Garces-Cano began her career at Shore in 2016 as a full-time nurse aide on 5 Hayes while simultaneously attending nursing school full-time.
Garces-Cano has proven herself to be a compassionate caregiver and exceptional member of the 5 Hayes team, Shore said in a press release.
She handles difficult patient circumstances with grace and the utmost sensitivity, while also making herself available to everyone on her team whenever her help is needed, according to the release.
Kelly Duma, Nurse Manager of the 5 Hayes unit, is extremely proud of Garces-Cano, she said.
“It has been one of the greatest joys in my career to watch Sara blossom into the extraordinary nurse she is today,” Duma said.
A resident of Somers Point, Garces-Cano loves spending her free time with friends and family and is grateful to her mother for her constant support.
