Bayfest is the largest single day festival in South Jersey, and let me tell you it does not disappoint. Held on April 29th this year, Bayfest is an annual event whose procedes go toward special projects for the residents of Somers Point. In the past these projects have included installing new playground equipment, donations to help the police department get a new police dog, new banners for over the roadway, improvements to the “Bud Kern Field,” a new generator for the Somers Point Public Works , and even donations to the Mainland Region High School Communication Arts Department.

The bands kept everyone dancing all day long.

Every year volunteers work diligently on making sure every aspect of the event is planned and runs flawlessly. Everything from picking the date, to booking the bands, to making arrangements for vendors is all assisted by the volunteers. The hard work does not go unnoticed.

As mentioned above the Somers Point Bayfest is the biggest one day festival in South Jersey. Entertainment for children and adults alike lined the beach, with vendors and food trucks lining the street along Bay Avenue. “Its cool how this small town puts on such a great event to bring communities together,” said Sarahjane Hehre of Ventnor.

A roaming pipe band was bound to make anyone smile!

“Its always a great friendly day,” said Kathleene Renda of Somers Point. “It gives off the same feel every year!” “On top of that, its always a great place to see old friends!” added friend Michael Cuculino

As for the weather, “We couldn’t ask for better weather,” said Owner and Operators Christian and Joe of CJ’s in Somers Point. The day was beautiful with a bright sun, and temperatures in the 80’s.”it was a wonderful day,” said Tom Spadafora, owner and operator of Spadafora’s in Ocean City. “I’m glad there was no rain today”

The event was a sunny start to the summer!

Aside from beautiful weather, attendance was also amazing. With over 50,000 people stopping by the event throughout the day no one can deny that this event was a success. Many people come from all over the South Jersey area to have fun with the family. Even the vendors have a blast at Bayfest! “It’s another great year at Bayfest.” Said Matt Pittaluga one of the owners of Hank Sauce, a company with a restaurant in Sea Isle City. ”It’s always fun to be a part of the best attended one day festival in the area. For us being a local company, it’s great to see all of the locals so excited about the day!”

Bayfest was fun for ages 5 to 105!
