Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, but early detection can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment.
Shore Medical Center, a member of the Penn Cancer Network, is committed to detecting lung cancer early when it is most treatable and is offering free lung cancer screenings for eligible individuals.
Consultations will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Shore Cancer Center in Somers Point from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Dr. Gregory Herman of Shore Physicians Group will be providing the consultations. Following the consultation, eligible participants will be scheduled for a Low Dose CT scan, a proven method for detecting lung cancer at its earliest and most treatable stages.
The scans will be performed free of charge at Advanced Shore Imaging Associates in Northfield at a later date at the individual’s convenience.
Low Dose CT screenings are recommended for people between 50 and 80 who are current smokers or have quit within the past 15 years.
