Shore Medical Center announced that Emergency Room Nurse Merrick Adams has been named its November Guardian Angel of the Month for providing passionate and exceptional patient care.
Shore established the Guardian Angel program to enable community members to say “thank you” to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center in their honor.
Adams, of Cape May Court House, started her career at Shore Medical Center in 2021 as a nursing assistant. In August 2022, she became a registered nurse in the Emergency Department.
Her manager, Sherri Richmond, director of Emergency Services, said Adams is reliable and competent and always willing to help in any way possible to assist her patients and colleagues.
“Merrick is able to think and act fast. She is composed in stressful situations and possesses excellent time management skills. She’s also compassionate and well-respected by her colleagues,” Richmond said.
The daughter of a Shore patient recently made a Guardian Angel donation to the medical center in Adams’ honor and had this to say about her:
“I was amazed at the kindness, expertise and grace that Merrick exhibited while caring for my dad. Merrick also took the time to keep both my father and me informed throughout his emergency room stay. She also made a very scary situation for my dad a walk in the park.”
Shore Medical Center’s Guardian Angel program provides an opportunity for patients and families to recognize anyone at Shore who makes a difference in their care or experience.
Guardian Angels are recognized among their peers and presented with a Guardian Angel pin at Shore’s annual pinning ceremony. To honor a Shore Medical Center Guardian Angel, call Shore’s Planned Giving & Development Department at 609-653-3800 or visit www.GivetoShore.org.
