Shore Physicians Group has welcomed Penn Medicine neurosurgeon, Dr. Joseph Queenan, to its division of Neurosurgery, a Penn Medicine Surgery affiliate, in Somers Point.
Dr. Queenan joins SPG Neurosurgeon Dr. Francis Kralick and is now seeing patients.
Dr. Queenan, a native of South Philadelphia, comes to Shore Physicians Group after serving for many years as an attending neurosurgeon for pediatric and adult patients alike, including Temple University Hospital, Fox Chase Cancer Center, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Prior to that, he served as Chief of Neurosurgery and attending neurosurgeon at Hahnemann University Hospital, as well as Chief of Neurosurgery at AI duPont Children’s Hospital.
When it comes to Dr. Queenan’s philosophy of care, he stresses how important it is for a physician and patient to have mutual respect for one another.
“My philosophy is to make sure my patients have as firm an understanding as possible about their condition and treatment option,” he said in a Shore news release. “I want them to fully understand the options available to treat their condition so that they can be fully invested in the decision-making process when it comes to selecting a treatment.”
He is skilled in treating spine and brain disorders using microsurgical techniques. These procedures include cranial decompression, shunts for hydrocephalus and other cerebrospinal fluid anomalies, and brain tumor surgery.
Additionally, he treats patients suffering from back pain caused by degenerative, traumatic or congenital spinal disorders, offering patients a carefully planned path toward healing using the least-invasive methods possible.
Dr. Queenan will be on staff at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point and will see patients at Shore Physicians Group’s Division of Neurosurgery, a Penn Medicine Surgery Affiliate, located at 649 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ.
