Shore Medical Center has selected Erin Mitchell of Mays Landing as the August Employee of the Month.
Mitchell is a registered nurse on the 5th Stainton Unit. She began her career at Shore in July 1997.
Nurse Manager of 5th Stainton, Elaine Toolsie, said, “Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Erin, as chair for the unit Council, has made several pointers to better serve our COVID-19 patients. Many of these took the unit through uncharted pathways, but today, 5th Stainton is as comfortable caring for COVID-19 patients as it would be for the common cold.”
Toolsie said in a news release that she was especially proud of Mitchell for how she handled an unexpected incident on the unit in January that demonstrated her leadership.
“Through quick thinking, Erin was able to maneuver the situation and assure no one was adversely affected,” Toolsie said.
Aside from being quick-thinking and a go-to member of the 5th Stainton team, Mitchell is also a strong advocate for her patients, according to Toolsie.
“That ability provides the drive we all see when challenges arise,” Toolsie noted. “Her teamwork, interpersonal skills, and her ability to appeal to others are qualities that we all seek in our teams.”
