Republicans Win in Somers Point Council Races

Somers Point Republicans pulled off a clean sweep on Election Night in the three races for City Council.

Republican Kirk Gerety retained his at-large seat with 2,846 votes over Democratic opponent, Ann Marie Gibbs, who had 2,005.

In the Ward 1 race, Council President Janice Johnston, a Republican, had 1,478 votes to defeat her Democrat challenger, Patricia Scamoffa, who had 1,046.

Republican Howard Dill won re-election in the Ward 2 race with 1,211 votes against Democrat Susannah Morgan Slaughter, who had 1,098.

The vote totals were reported by the Atlantic County Clerk’s Office.
