The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) will host its annual Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Linwood Country Club in Linwood.

Founded nine years ago in North Jersey, the event will be held for the third time simultaneously in South Jersey, uniting supporters from around the state. The Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon seeks to raise more than $375,000 statewide to support CFBNJ’s work providing healthy food for New Jersey neighbors in need.

Attendees will enjoy a formal program, along with lunch, a volunteer hour, and networking. Melissa Clark will be the event’s featured speaker, simulcast to Linwood from the event’s North Jersey location in Florham Park.

Clark is a staff reporter for the New York Times Food section, where she writes the popular column, “A Good Appetite,” and appears in a weekly cooking video series. An advocate and voice of the home cook, she has written more than 40 cookbooks, including Dinner in One: Exceptional & Easy One-Pan Meals and Dinner: Changing the Game. Robin Stoloff will be the program moderator.

Since its inception, the Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon has brought the hidden realities of hunger to the public eye, while discussing supportive solutions, according to a news release.

Nearly 1 million people in New Jersey are food insecure, including more than 260,000 children. At this year’s event, attendees will be inspired and motivated to commit to serving families in need, the release stated.

CFBNJ’s Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon is an opportunity to join with a community of action-oriented women who have dedicated their time to support CFBNJ’s goals and priorities through hands-on philanthropy, leadership, and collaboration.

The Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon is open to everyone, and corporate sponsorship is available. The Linwood Country Club event is supported by Spencer’s & Spirit Halloween and ACME Nourishing Neighbors as Presenting Sponsors, Atlantic City Electric as Luncheon Sponsor, and AtlantiCare and the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority as Healthy Student Sponsors.
