Earlier this week, Atlantic County election offices were informed of a conflict with the digital file received by their mailing house for the printing and distribution of sample ballots for the June 4 Primary Election.
Election officials representing the Atlantic County Board of Elections, County Clerk and Superintendent of Elections worked quickly and collaboratively to correct the conflict, reduce, but not eliminate, a delay in the statutory sample ballot mailing deadline which is on or before 12 noon the Wednesday preceding the start of the early voting period for the primary election. This year that deadline was Wednesday, May 22.
In an abundance of transparency, the Office of the Superintendent of Elections has issued a notification advising Atlantic County voters of the delay.
“The bulk of Atlantic County’s sample ballots are expected to reach the U.S. Postal Service distribution center today, May 23, according to our mailing house, with the goal of completing all mailings by midnight,” Superintendent of Elections Maureen Bugdon said in a county news release. “With no mail delivery on Memorial Day and the Early Voting period opening next Wednesday, May 29, we wanted to inform our residents of this slight delay in the delivery of sample ballots. Our voters deserve every resource to plan and cast their ballots.”
Voters may review their sample ballot prior to receiving it in their mailbox by visiting: www.AtlanticCountyClerk.org. Look under the “Elections” heading to find your town/district ballot,” Deputy Superintendent of Elections Audrey Miles said.
