Atlantic City Man Indicted in Boating Crash Death

An Atlantic County Grand Jury on March 19 indicted an Atlantic City man for aggravated manslaughter in connection with a fatal boating crash that occurred at approximately 5:14 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2023.

According to a release from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Jeffrey M. Jastrzembski, 54, of Atlantic City, was indicted for first-degree aggravated manslaughter in a boating crash on the Intracoastal Waterway near the Albany Avenue bridge that claimed the life of Norma Michaels, 70, also of Atlantic City.

The prosecutor alleged that Jastrzembski accelerated the boat he was operating at a high rate of speed in the direction of the docks and made an aggressive port-side turn that caused the boat’s propeller to strike and kill Michaels.

Follow-up investigation determined that Jastrzembski had a blood alcohol content of between 0.19% and 0.23% at the time of the crash.

The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Fatal Crash Investigation Unit and the New Jersey State Police.
