Taking a significant step to create new educational opportunities for students, Rutgers University–Camden Chancellor Antonio D. Tillis and Atlantic Cape Community College President Barbara Gaba signed a memorandum of understanding creating a premier partnership between the two institutions of higher education.
“This partnership illustrates our commitment to the students, families, faculty, and staff that are a part of Atlantic Cape and our commitment to serve as an anchor institution for South Jersey and the Delaware Valley,” Chancellor Tillis said in a news release. “As administrators, it is our responsibility to create opportunities that will forge indelible, lifelong experiences for our students, creating global citizens and fostering cultural understanding, empathy, and appreciation for diversity.”
The agreement will allow students to pursue a bachelor’s degree seamlessly at both institutions through a sequential degree program. Participating students can fully matriculate at Rutgers–Camden after completing 60 credits at Atlantic Cape. Students will also have access to academic advisors at both institutions before completing their classwork at Atlantic Cape, continue to pay Atlantic Cape tuition and fees for their third year, and have the option to attend certain Rutgers–Camden classes on the Atlantic Cape Mays Landing campus through the Rutgers Statewide program.
“Today’s partnership signing is yet another important agreement between Atlantic Cape and Rutgers Camden, as it offers students an opportunity to earn both an associate’s and bachelor’s degree at an affordable rate and with a seamless transition, providing a life-changing college education that students can use to enhance their career opportunities,” Gaba said. “It is Atlantic Cape’s mission to create opportunity by providing access to excellent programs and services that successfully meet our students’ educational goals.”
