The Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center presented a donation of $308,500 to hospital leaders during a ceremony held on Jan. 25.

This contribution reflects the cumulative proceeds from their 2023 fundraising initiatives, which were raised through various channels including the hospital gift shop, thrift shops in Somers Point and Marmora, and a series of events such as the D. Allen Stretch Golf Tournament, Kids Swim for Health, Thrift Shop Fashion Show, Tree of Lights, High Tea, Ladies Night, and flower sales.

In addition to acknowledging the generous donation, the ceremony also recognized auxiliary members for their dedicated years of service.

President of Shore Medical Center David Hughes emphasized the significance of the funds raised by the auxiliary.

“The contributions made by the auxiliary are vital to supporting numerous projects throughout the hospital each year,” Hughes said in a news release. “From room renovations to the acquisition of essential equipment, such as the linear accelerator at Shore Cancer Center, these funds play a crucial role in maintaining the high standard of treatment and patient experience we strive for at Shore Medical Center.”

The auxiliary’s commitment to fundraising has proven instrumental in advancing the hospital’s mission and enhancing its capabilities.

Hughes expressed gratitude to the auxiliary members, acknowledging their pivotal role in ensuring the hospital’s continued success.
