Shore Medical Center to Host Free Cancer Survivors Workshop

Shore Medical Center is in Somers Point.

Shore Medical Center and the Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health will host a free 6-week workshop, “Cancer: Thriving & Surviving”, for individuals affected by cancer.

The workshop will be held every Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. from January 16 to February 20.

“Cancer: Thriving and Surviving” is an interactive program designed to empower participants with the tools and strategies to manage their health and lead fulfilling lives.

The workshops will be held at Shore Cancer Center, across from Shore Medical Center at the corner of Shore Road and Medical Center Way in Somers Point.

Participants who complete the series will receive at $25 Wawa gift card. To ensure a personalized and interactive experience, class size is limited.

The workshop series will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Techniques to address challenges like fatigue, pain, isolation, poor sleep, frustration and living with uncertainty
  • Setting priorities and goals for a healthier lifestyle
  • Proper nutrition guidance
  • Effective communication with family, friends and health professionals
  • Decision-making about treatment and complementary therapies
  • Appropriate exercise for regaining and maintaining flexibility and endurance

“All participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book titled ‘Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions,'” said Angela Bailey, Manager of Cancer Community Outreach at Shore Medical Center. “This workshop, presented in partnership with the Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health, is a unique opportunity for individuals to come together, share experiences, and gain valuable insights to enhance their well-being.”

“Cancer: Thriving & Surviving” is not only beneficial for those in active treatment but also welcomes survivors and caregivers. The workshop provides a supportive environment where participants can engage in meaningful discussions and learn from each other’s experiences.
