Beginning Dec. 15 through the end of the month, the Atlantic County Animal Shelter is waiving the adoption fee for all dogs 25 pounds or more.
In addition to finding a new companion, becoming a dog owner can provide opportunities to stay active and start the New Year on a healthy foot with increased walking and outdoor activities.
The shelter also provides a year-round 50 percent discount on dogs and cats available for immediate adoption as well as senior pets. Veterans who adopt a pet receive a 50 percent discount.
Regular adoption fees are $110 for dogs and puppies and $85 for cats and kittens and include mandatory sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip and free veterinary consultation. Adopted dogs also receive two free obedience classes.
