Participants will be able to sketch and paint outdoors at any one of the county parks that include Gaskill and Lake Lenape Parks in Mays Landing, the park at Estell Manor, Weymouth Furnace, Oscar E. McClinton Waterfront Park in Atlantic City, Leeds Point Nature Area in Galloway, the 7.5-mile county bikeway and more. Photographers are also welcome to participate.

All participants must register the day of the event beginning at 8 a.m. at the Atlantic County Park Nature Center, 109 Route 50, Estell Manor, and submit completed artwork by 6:30 p.m. that evening.

There is a $20 entry fee for up to two pieces of artwork created that day, or up to two photographs taken within the parks from any time of year.

In addition to Plein Air fine art, there will be a Kids’ Plein Air activity for kids 7-12 years of age. The $10 entry fee includes instruction, supplies and an 8×10 mat for framing. Participation is limited to 15 children. Pre-registration is required at: atlcofriendsoftheparks@gmail.com.

The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Parks Inc., a non-profit citizens group established in 1985 to help promote Atlantic County parks, and Atlantic Cape Community College, which will hold an exhibit of submitted works, Nov. 9 through Dec. 1, at the college’s art gallery on its Mays Landing campus. A Children’s Wall will display the work of younger artists.

Prizes of $100, $75 and $50 will be awarded to the top three adult artists and photographers at the exhibit’s opening reception on Nov. 9.
