The Ocean City Tabernacle welcomes Becket Cook to speak at the 8:30 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary services on Sunday, August 13.

Born and raised in Dallas, Becket moved to Los Angeles after college to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer, working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L’Oréal Paris, and Nike.

In 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop who invited him to church. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service, and after hearing the sermon that Sunday, was utterly transformed by the gospel, according to a Tabernacle news release.

After earning his Master of Arts in Theology from Biola University in 2017, Becket’s book, “A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption,” was released July 30, 2019.

Also returning to the Tabernacle on Aug. 13 will be Point of Grace for a free concert. Point of Grace is filling in for the previously announced Sandi Patty, who had to cancel due to illness.

The free concert begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. for first-come, first-served seating and a hymn sing at 6:30 p.m.

The Ocean City Tabernacle also hosts Boardwalk Worship at the Music Pier on Sundays at 8 a.m., with music by Jane Zigner and a message by Rev. Terry Lothian.
