Representatives from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia will present information to community members about the Anchor Economy Initiative and discuss the creation of an Atlantic County Anchors for Equity Research in Action Lab on Tuesday, May 16 at 9:30 a.m. at Stockton University, 3711 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City.

According to Fran Kuhn, Executive Director of the Atlantic County Workforce Development Board, this is an ideal opportunity for local healthcare providers, education institutions, local governments and others to learn of the ability of anchor institutions to sustain jobs, drive economic growth and support equitable regional development.

“In addition to having a significant economic and social impact on their communities, anchor institutions also have an economic self-interest in making sure these communities are healthy and safe,” Kuhn said.

Understanding their roles in regional economies can help community leaders and planners make informed choices as regions and anchor institutions evolve, according to a county news release.
