Local Man Identified as Victim in Somers Point Accident

Police are investigating the cause of a collision that left an Egg Harbor Township man dead.

A man who was hit by a car on Route 52 in Somers Point in front of the Economy Motel on July 23 and later died from his injuries, was identified as Frank Molter Jr.

Molter, 54, of Somers Point, was crossing the road when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 59-year-old Mount Laurel woman, according to a Somers Point press release.

He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit, where he died of his injuries on July 24.

The woman driving the vehicle and her 85-year-old passenger were transported to Shore Medical Center for minor injuries.

According to Molter’s obituary, he was born and raised in Ocean City. He graduated from Ocean City High School Class of 1986 and attended Brandywine College in Wilmington, Del.

He worked as a parking supervisor at both the Bally’s and Hilton casinos for many years.

The collision is under investigation by the Somers Point Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collision Unit. Excessive speed and/or impairment are not believed to be factors, police said.
