The Ocean City Tabernacle welcomes former MLB All-Star pitcher Dave Dravecky to speak at the 8:30 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary services on Sunday, July 24.
Dravecky’s story goes from the heights of success in professional sports to the depths of a career-ending health crisis, then back to hope, courage, and perseverance only found in Jesus Christ, according to a Tabernacle news release.
Following a seven-year career with the Padres and Giants, Dravecky retired due to cancer in his pitching arm, ultimately leading to amputation.
However, the loss of his childhood dream would become a platform to share hope with the suffering around the world. Navigating loss, defining true worth, evaluating life, pursuing goals, Dave’s testimony is sure to motivate, encourage and inspire, the release says.
Also returning to the Tabernacle on July 24 will be Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Laura Story. Writer of popular Christian songs like “Indescribable” and “I Give Up,” Story has received multiple Dove Awards as well as Grammy and Billboard Music “Song of the Year” recognition for 2012’s “Blessings.”
Laura also serves as the Creative Resource Director for Perimeter Church in Atlanta.
Her free concert at the Tabernacle begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. for first-come, first-served seating and a hymn sing at 6:30 p.m.
