Shore Medical Center announced that its Director of Physical Rehabilitation, Jennifer Pesce, an employee of the Bacharach Rehabilitation Institute, is the recipient of the hospital’s Leadership Profile Award.

The award goes to a manager for exemplary job performance and exhibiting characteristics most valued in its leaders.

Pesce came to Shore in 1997 as a physical therapist and was promoted to Director of Rehabilitation in 2004, overseeing inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. She has built an exceptional patient care team in physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and the Balance Center.

Under Pesce’s leadership, the rehabilitation team collaborates with a variety of disciplines throughout the medical center to ensure patients receive optimal rehabilitation care and that the patient and family members are engaged in the process for a successful outcome.

The team remains compliant with all regulatory requirements while providing expert documentation to support clinical decisions, especially with Shore’s Total Joint and Spine programs of excellence.

Robin Keyack, vice president of Ambulatory and Surgical Services, says Pesce keeps a pulse on all the latest developments across the disciplines she oversees.

“Jenn advocates for the resources necessary to augment and enhance our programs. For example, when we relocated our outpatient services to an external building, she advocated for shifting from paper charts to an outpatient electronic medical record system to optimize workflows, patient communication strategies and billing processes,” Keyack said.

Not only does Pesce ensure patients receive the best rehabilitation care possible, but she is also a compassionate and knowledgeable resource for her Shore colleagues who need rehabilitation care for themselves or their family members, according to a hospital news release.

As a manager, Pesce’s staff revere her for creating a supportive environment and jumping in to help wherever needed. Below are just some of the many comments Pesce’s staff shared about her:

“While making certain that her staff has the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to care for all of our patient’s needs, she also makes certain that her staff is physically and mentally well, clear, and present for the task of caring for our patients.”

And:

“Good leaders make their employees feel appreciated and supported, and Jenn is a great leader. She has always had our back, both professionally and personally…She juggles all aspects of the rehab department while still being involved in patient care and treating her own patients.”

Keyack concluded, “I can always count on Jenn to live up to one of Shore’s key values – do the right thing, always. She is a true advocate for Shore Medical Center, her staff and most importantly, her patients.”

Pesce lives in Egg Harbor Township with her spouse, Doris, and their children, a daughter and three sons. They are also avid dog lovers, with two dogs currently and another joining the family soon. She enjoys wood crafting and loves sharing her creations with friends and family. Pesce is currently working toward her MBA from Rutgers University.
