COVID-19 test sites closing with decreasing numbers of positive cases.

The free COVID-19 test site at 421 Chris Gaupp Drive in Galloway Township will be closing as of Saturday, March 19. The site had been operating seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as a collaborative effort of Atlantic County and Stockton University with federal and state funding.

The county and Stockton had also operated another free test site at the Carnegie Center in Atlantic City. That site closed as of March 11.

According to Atlantic County Acting Public Health Director Kara Janson, the demand for testing at these sites has been very limited over the past several weeks, which she attributes to a decrease in new COVID-19 cases, the lifting of many testing requirements and the availability of community testing and at-home test kits.

“We hope this positive trend continues but we urge residents, especially those at higher risk for infection, to continue to take protective measures,” Janson said.

Janson also noted that the current COVID-19 Activity Level in Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties is low.
