The Atlantic County Department of Regional Planning, in cooperation with Hamilton Township, will hold a public information meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8 to discuss the Lake Lenape Dam Rehabilitation and Spillway Reconstruction project.

The meeting will be held in the Hamilton Township Municipal Building, 6101 Thirteenth Street, Mays Landing.

The county’s design consultant will provide a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Each presentation will be followed by time for public comments and questions. The meeting will conclude at 7:30 p.m.

The project includes improvements to the dam’s powerhouse and the rehabilitation of the dam that was built in the mid-1800s and used by a cotton mill. It closed in 1940. The dam was acquired by Hamilton Township in 1978. The county became a co-owner several years later to share the financial burden with the township.

The county and township are working with representatives of NJ Dam Safety, NJDEP, the State Historic Preservation Office, NJ Pinelands Commission, and others to move this project to completion.

Those interested may participate in-person (face masks required) or remotely by phone at 1-347-991-6404, Access Code 818 252 992 or by joining from a computer, tablet or smartphone at www.townshiphamilton.com/live-meeting (speakers and microphone required, camera optional).
