The Historic Organ Restoration Committee has resumed free recitals at noon Monday through Friday at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
“This has been a moment we have been waiting for since COVID-19 caused us to cease tours 16 months ago. Bringing these instruments to the public is one of the best parts of the mission of Historic Organ Restoration Committee,” said Curator of Organs Nathan Bryson.
The recitals are presented free of charge and are made possible by funds from the Atlantic County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. A short tour of the organ shop and organ console follow each recital.
The Curator’s Tour, which takes guests inside the pipe organ and to areas of historic Boardwalk Hall that are normally closed to the public, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesdays throughout the year. Tickets are $10. Funds raised from the tours support the organ restoration project.
A list of recitalists is available on the HORC website and features local and nationally renowned organists who will present a wide variety of music, ensuring everyone will have something that appeals to their musical enjoyment.
Boardwalk Hall’s Midmer-Losh organ is considered the world’s largest musical instrument.
