An Ocean City man died in a car crash Tuesday evening, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Police Chief Jay Prettyman said in a news release.
According to police, at about 6:10 p.m. Ocean City police officers and EMS responded to the intersection of Ninth Street and Bay Avenue for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash.
A 2005 Mercury Sable driven by Kevin Farrell, 48, of Somers Point, was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Bay Avenue from Ninth Street when he was struck on the passenger side by a westbound 2018 Jeep Wrangler driven by Ruddy Narvaez Jr., 33, of Galloway.
The front seat passenger of the Mercury Sable, David Andrews, 66, of Ocean City, was transported to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said in a release Wednesday.
The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.
Farrell was transported to the Atlantic City Medical Center, where he is currently being treated for his injuries.
According to Sutherland, the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
An investigation is being conducted by the Ocean City Police Department Traffic Safety Unit, Ocean City detectives and the Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Crash Investigation Unit and Major Crimes Unit.
