The Atlantic County Animal Shelter will hold a free Parvo vaccination clinic for dogs during its monthly canine rabies vaccination clinic 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 16, by appointment.

Parvo is a highly contagious virus that causes an infectious gastrointestinal illness in puppies and young dogs. Parvo spreads easily through the canine population and without treatment, it is potentially deadly.

The Parvo clinic is being provided in cooperation with the Absecon Veterinary Hospital. The required follow-up Parvo booster shots will be administered on Sunday, June 13 at the veterinary hospital.

In addition to these canine clinics, the animal shelter will provide its monthly free feline rabies vaccination clinic 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 23, by appointment.

Appointments for all can be made online at www.aclink.org/animalshelter. Appointments are required so that all health and safety protocols can be maintained. All visitors must wear masks. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.

The Atlantic County Animal Shelter is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville. For more information, please contact the animal shelter at 609-485-2345.
