The Atlantic Cape Foundation will join millions around the world by participating in the global generosity GivingTuesday movement on Dec. 1.

Founded in 2012, GivingTuesday is “a day that encourages people to do good.” Whether participants give their time, a financial contribution, or a voice in the community, all contributions matter, according to a press release.

Alumni and friends of Atlantic Cape Community College, along with the community, are invited to participate in this year’s Day of Giving by making a donation to the Atlantic Cape Foundation.

This year, the foundation hopes to raise $10,000, a figure that slightly surpasses the amount raised in 2019. All donations received will directly impact the students of Atlantic Cape Community College as the Foundation annually awards scholarships and emergency funding to students in need.

As a movement, GivingTuesday encourages participants to unite under the collective voice of generosity. Nestled between Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, the initiative incorporates the spirit of the giving season and provides individuals and organizations with a global platform to make a difference within their communities across the world and encourages the celebration of generosity.

In 2019, a total of $1.97 billion was raised in the United States alone through online and offline activities including volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness.
