Altogether, Atlantic County has 258 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths to date.

Atlantic County health officials reported on Sunday that there were no new deaths related to COVID-19 for the fifth consecutive day and 44 more residents who have been cleared as recovered.

Since Aug. 2, there have been only two deaths, both of which involved long-term care residents with underlying health conditions. A countywide total of 243 residents have died from COVID-19 since April 2.

Over Saturday and Sunday, health officials confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases in 11 males, ages 11-78 years, and eight females, ages 10 months to 63 years. These cases were found as follows: four in Atlantic City, one in Egg Harbor City, two in Egg Harbor Township, five in Hamilton Township, one in Longport, one in Margate, four in Pleasantville and one in Ventnor.

There are now 3,887 county residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, of whom 2,423 have been cleared as recovered.

Atlantic County will continue to provide coronavirus testing by appointment at its drive-thru facility in Northfield at Rt. 9 and Dolphin Avenue, behind the county public works yard.

Testing is scheduled for each Tuesday through Sept. 29, 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The only exception will be the week of Labor Day when testing will occur on Wednesday, Sept. 9, instead of Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The test site is available for both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents with or without a doctor’s prescription. Residents must provide proof of county residency and appointment confirmation.

If available, appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel no less than 24 hours in advance so others may have an opportunity to fill those spots.

Health officials urge residents to continue to remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

This includes wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and sanitizing common-touch areas, and answering the call if contacted by contact tracers.
