After a summer break, Shore Medical Center in Somers Point is once again offering free monthly Healing Touch sessions for the community.
The first sessions will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointment is necessary, and the last session starts at 12:45 p.m.
Healing Touch is an integrative therapy that employs light touch to assist the body in rest, recovery and stress reduction. Its applications can range from alleviating chronic conditions to preparation for and recovery from surgery.
Tami Kitchen, RN, BSN, CPN, administrative director of experience and Planetree coordinator for patient-centered care at Shore Medical Center, says Healing Touch is just one of several integrative therapies Shore offers patients and families to promote healing alongside traditional healthcare services.
“At Shore, we believe in a holistic approach to care, one that addresses each individual’s mind, body and spirit. Integrative therapies like Healing Touch can help with acute pain, symptom management and stress management, and we’re proud to extend this therapy complimentary to our community,” Kitchen said.
Sessions will be held through the end of 2018 on Sept.15, Oct. 20 and Nov.17. All sessions are held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Planetree conference room located on the first floor of the surgical pavilion. To learn more, call 609-653-3676.
