Damp and dreary weather will continue this week as several low pressure systems move through. In addition to the occasional rain, we also will be dealing with some coastal flooding.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect Wednesday night and again Thursday night (between7-10pm) as we enter a new moon phase along with steady onshore winds. Tides will run around 1 foot above normal which will cause some road closures in the usual areas on the island. The surf will also be increasing. Waves run 2-4 feet on Wednesday and up to 4-6 feet on Thursday as the low pressure system moves offshore.

WEDNESDAY

Most of the day will be dry but mostly cloudy and cool as winds will be out of the northeast. Temperatures will only reach the lower 60s. A warm front will approach overnight along with the next round of showers and possible t’storms.

THURSDAY

Widespread heavy showers and t’storms are expected Thursday morning. We could still see a few showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND.

Memorial Day Weekend may not be 100% dry, but it will be much nicer. Some sunshine will return by Friday. Some instability from a trough swinging through could trigger a shower in the afternoon but most should remain north & west of our area. West winds will also boost temperatures into the 70s!

The sunniest day will be Saturday as high pressure briefly builds in. Temperatures will climb into the 70s inland but southerly wind could keep us slightly cooler.

Clouds will return on Sunday as the next low pressure system moves our way. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s on Sunday and possibly well into the 70s on Memorial Day. More showers and possible t’storms are expected during the day on Sunday and even Memorial Day.
