(SOMERS POINT, NJ – April 7, 2017) — Shore Medical Center’s School of Radiologic Technology is accepting applications for its full-time, 21-month certificate program in Radiologic Technology now through May 31. Through participation in classroom, laboratory, and clinical activities, students are prepared to successfully begin a career as a Radiologic Technologist. The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Bureau of X-ray Compliance.

Shore Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology (SMCSRT) is a cooperative program designed with Atlantic Cape Community College. The program meets the needs of those students desiring licensing and employment in the community as a Radiologic Technologist. Current licensing updates require students on this career path to have a minimum degree from an accredited institution for eligibility to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) licensing examination.

The prerequisite course phase of the program is completed at Atlantic Cape Community College. The core radiologic technology courses and clinical phase of the program is completed at Shore Medical Center. Only those students who complete the program training under the SMCSRT are eligible to graduate from the Radiologic Technology Program and apply for the ARRT examination and state license.

The School of Radiologic Technology has trained students for careers as radiologic technologists for more than 20 years. As one of the few hospital-based programs in the state – and one of only two radiology schools of any kind in South Jersey – Shore’s program provides classroom and practical experience through rotations at outpatient centers and hospitals throughout the region. In October of 2012, the school received its eight-year accreditation renewal from the Joint Review Committee of Education in Radiologic Technology, which is a testament to its high standard of excellence.
